The only way to change my address in My O2 seems to be to have a one-time code sent to my O2 number. The trouble is, I don't use my O2 number and have no current intention of doing so. I only got it so I could get a cheaper Virgin Media broadband deal and having an O2 sim was unfortunately a non-negotiable part of the package. Is there any way to actually change my address?

Hi @Scott101
You have two choices really...
1) Contact Virgin (As this is an O2 forum, we have no idea of how to change address via Virgin)
2) Change it via O2 .
You need to go into MyO2 http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2
Along the top of the page you will see various headings. It's in the section BILLS AND CURRENT CHARGES. Drop down box will show "Change payment or address details" and address details will allow you to change your address. O2 will send you a text to make sure it's you.
Or if you have any problems message O2 on Facebook ( https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter ( https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram ( https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this.

Thanks for your reply. I have already changed my address with Virgin, but apparently I need to change it separately with O2 as they still have my old address. The method of changing it on the O2 website which you mention is what I described in my initial post-- it sends the code to my O2 number, which, as I've explained, I don't use, so I don't receive the code.

Seems strange having an O2 SIM on a monthly contract and not using it even as a back up.
You could try using the following if you don't want to use the phone
You can message O2
Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) ,
Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) ,for help

if you have no intention of using the contract you need to cancel
you will be charged until you do each month

Thanks. Using it would mean getting another phone, which I'm not prepared to do just on the off-chance I need a backup at some point. I'll try messaging 02 about it.

I've tried looking into cancelling but I haven't been able to find out what the early cancellation charge would be, nor whether my virgin broadband deal is somehow contingent on keeping my 02 contract going.

You really need to call O2, numbers in here if 202 does not work for you: Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support - call around 08:15.
Your broadband benefits, if you have used Volt to double your bandwidth, will, in all likelihood, revert to pre-Volt terms after you cancel your only O2 contract, @Scott101, that info is in the Volt T&Cs linked here: Volt Megaguide and from VM website:
"Volt benefits: Volt benefits available if you (i) have or sign up to both a Virgin Media broadband service and an eligible O2 Pay Monthly tariff, (ii) have or sign up to a Virgin Media broadband service and at least one eligible O2 Pay Monthly tariff is registered to your address, or (iii) have or sign up to an eligible O2 Pay Monthly tariff and there is a Virgin Media broadband service registered to your address."

Hi. No, unfortunately I was sent through an infuriating automated system which asked me for the answer to my security question (which of course I don't know because they didn't say what the question is) and then hung up on me. There didn't seem to be any option to talk to a human. Who would have thought something as simple as updating an address would be so laborious and time-consuming?
