Hello, I need some advice please.
I'm a new customer to 02, I recieved my new phone yesterday and sent a text to a few contacts with my new number.
I've just looked at my account today and I've been charged for each contact I sent the text message to as its classing it as a picture message.
Surely this isn't right?

using smily faces in your messages will change them to picture messages.
also, if your messages are over a certain length or you send to multiple people at the same time, you will be charged for a picture message.
best to play safe and turn off MMS in your handset settings

Also sending group messages incurs costs.
Have a look at this thread

Thanks everyone, I didn't have this with my previous network provider so was quite shocked.
Luckily it was just sent to 20 people but its still a hole in the pocket.
Thanks again.

An expensive lesson learnt then @Anonymous Still you have that help link now so I am sure you will think twice in future. (Have to admit when I first started using a smartphone I had no idea about emoticons or group messages).....I soon did when I examined my bill...:smileywink:

Nothing to do with network.
It's all controlled with the settings on the phone.
