Does anyone know if there is a way to create a Permalink to a specific message in the various Boards of this Community.  Permalinks are a useful way of dirceting someone to a helpful message instead of trying to repeat its contents.

@AnonymousI don't know if this is what you mean but you can link to a specific post by right clicking on the post number and coying the link location

eg in your post above right click on the '3' in the Message 3 of ... under your Name and you can then paste that into a table of links with a description that you could save to your PC and insert into posts as you see fit.

Yes, right click as you describe and in my case selecting Copy Shortcut. Pasting the shortcut as link then takes reader to that specific message. Thanks again @aldaweb I have marked your message as accepted solution.

@aldaweband @Anonymous

Another lesson for me, thanks both.

However I can only 'Copy link location' not Copy Shortcut (I don't have that option)

Not too bothered about that ....but could someone expand on 'Save to your PC' bit?

I understand the term of course but have absolutely no idea where on my PC I would save it to?

Would I create a folder or something?

(Apologies for this, but if anyone is prepared to explain I would need a a+b+c+d guide....if you jump straight from A-Z I won't get it) Smiley Embarassed

If you right click and choose 'save link as' it will come up with a window (usually downloads) and you click on save. You can also choose to save it elsewhere.

@Cleoriff One option is, after copying the link to your clipboard paste it back into the address bar of a new browser page or tab and then bookmark the page (Firefox or Chrome) or if you are using Internet Explorer add to favourites.

You can then create a folder within bookmarks (favourites for IE) just for your links within the O2 community.

Just tried that @jonsie and yes it did open a window and gave me the option to save to downloads...so I did.

I then went into downloads to check what it looked like and it was a jumble of words that had no resemblance to what I thought had been saved Smiley Mad

So when you say 'you can chose to save it elsewhere'...where exactly is elsewhere??Smiley Embarassed

I've noticed the option is there from the search results page - Not sure if that's always been the case or if it's part of the new search facility?

I'd not seen that option either in search. Have to clean my glasses Smiley LOL

@aldawebThank you....I can do that if you define clipboard?

If I tell you what I have been doing to save stuff...

*Highlight it from dropdown box,

*copy it,

*open a file in my email draft folders(because I had no idea where else to put these articles)

*and paste it in there

So what that means is...currently I have an email draft page...containing loads of links from here. It might not be the right way but it is Cleo's way ...because I know no better LOL

@Cleoriff  If you want to save the whole page you can just click on the star on the right of the address bar and in Chrome or Firefox that adds a bookmark or in Internet Explorer you will need to select 'Add to Favourites'.

If you just want to pick out a particular post you could instead of copying just  left click instead of right on the post number as I described above and your browser will open with that post topmost. You can then bookmark it as I just described.

That avoids the clipboard completely Smiley Very Happy
