Missed delivery - compensation?

Anonymous
Not applicable
Ugh. I know the forums are full of "no service" threads atm, but I can't find anything that relates to my situation. I'm staying at home today waiting for a delivery. As I live in a Tower block and the intercom isn't working, I'm expecting the delivery company to ring me to let me know they're here so that I can go downstairs and collect said item. If they cannot make delivery (which they can't unless o2 get this sorted out within the next hour or so), they charge a £70 missed delivery fee. Was just wondering does anyone know if I could claim this back from o2?

Unlikely, O2 do not provide a guaranteed level of phone service.

Try turning off 3G to see if that helps it lock on to the network, all services seem to be coming back quickly now.

I tried switching off 3g about an hour ago and it didn't work unfortunately. Fingers crossed the service comes back before my delivery gets here!

£70 for a missed delivery? That's outrageous. I've never heard of anything like that before. What company is delivering to you, and why are you using them if they put those kinds of charges on? Did you not have an alternative?

Furniture delivery probably. In a tower block adds to the cost of shifting it up there. Then having to reschedule meant the delivery company has to replan their schedule which in all likelihood means a trip out of the way costing money.

It's a laminate floor and they charge by the weight, unfortunately.

Restarting the phone has helped for many.

Can't you ask them to call a neighbour instead? I would've thought whoever is responsible for the intercom in your block would be more to blame for a missed delivery than o2!

I still think it's an exorbitant amount to charge, considering you've probably paid a fair amount for your goods. Is there a neighbour who has a working phone? Maybe you can call the delivery company and explain the situation. Have they given you a specific delivery time, or is it one of those any time between 9-5 deliveries?

It's ok. I've got some sort of service back and managed to ring them. They're aware of the o2 problem and it doesn't look like they'd charge me. Hurrah!
