Missed delivery - compensation?

Anonymous

Ugh. I know the forums are full of "no service" threads atm, but I can't find anything that relates to my situation. I'm staying at home today waiting for a delivery. As I live in a Tower block and the intercom isn't working, I'm expecting the delivery company to ring me to let me know they're here so that I can go downstairs and collect said item. If they cannot make delivery (which they can't unless o2 get this sorted out within the next hour or so), they charge a £70 missed delivery fee. Was just wondering does anyone know if I could claim this back from o2?

It's ok. I've got some sort of service back and managed to ring them. They're aware of the o2 problem and it doesn't look like they'd charge me. Hurrah!

I hope you get it today after all that! Smiley LOL

I'm glad to hear you've got it sorted and won't get charged. Forgive my ignorance, but if you've been able to post here, you must have internet access, which I would presume to mean that you have a landline. Why weren't you able to call them on that?

lol, we don't have a house phone anymore. We got rid of it years ago - the only calls we ever got on it were either trying to sell us something or wrong numbers. Everyone contacts us via mobile. So the only reason we have the line now is for internet access. slight_smile

Perhaps getting a cheap plug in handset for the landline for when things like this happen as you pay a line rental (as a backup)

Maybe I'm getting old, but I've never heard of that before. If you have a line for internet access you pay a monthly rental for the line. Are you saying you can't plug an old phone into a jack and make a phone call if there's an emergency or an incident like what's happened today?

Yes, you guys are right of course. It's a bit more complicated than what I just said. Basically, when I was pregnant with my daughter, we moved the PC into another room but I was unable to connect to the Internet with the land-line plugged in and if the router was plugged in at the same time as the phone, the signal on the phone was awful. We did try everything to get around it - different extension leads, different adapters, etc. etc. but nothing worked. So in the end, we disconnected the phone completely. (And threw it out cause it was crap anyway, lol). However, we've now moved the PC back into the main living room and are in the process of a massive re-furb. (Hence the floor delivery). Once we've finished, we fully intend on getting an old phone we can just plug in for emergencies. slight_smile

If you get an old fashioned analogue one, it can be used to diagnose noisy line faults, the filters in the new digital ones won't do that.

There is a quote button at the top of the reply box.
