Well so just a few days into to 'switch over' from virgin and on my mobile I have had-1/ a scam call from '02' to give me 49% off my bill for being a loyal customer! accompanied by 2 txt's with a code for me to enter, 2/ A txt asking me what I thought of 02 when I had an inter action  (their words)  how likely was I to recommend them a free txt back to them they say-not so according to my phone I would be charged! this message came from 28585. Then the old chestnut of mum I lost my phone scam, and wots this crap-you missed a call from me this is a free call alert apparently I've gone deaf now can't hear phone ringing (my phone picked this one up as a spam)  I never chose 02 and I know now that was a wise decision- WHAT is going wrong A very very unhappy 'customer!!!

@Auntsally If you think you’ve been the victim of fraud – whether it’s because you’ve given details to someone over the phone, or clicked on a link in a suspicious text or email there are things you can do:
Contact your bank if you think you may have given out financial information. They can help protect your account and stop transactions.
Change your account and online account passwords. Not just your O2 account. All of them.
Forward fraudulent texts to O2 for free on 7726.
Contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
Call your Virgin Media or O2 customer services number if you think somebody’s taken out a contract using your details.
Virgin Media customers can phone 150 from their landline or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone.
O2 customers can call 202 from their O2 phone or 0344 809 0202 from any other phone.

You can block the number that called you, or any number you think may be suspicious.

@Auntsally

1. There is a scam going round where scammers are going round using PUBLICLY available information, and they are just trying every Virgin Mobile Number. Hopefully you didnt give them the code, as it wasn't o2, and if you did you are liable as you are specifically told not to give the code Phishing, Smishing & Scams. Latest info & advice.

2. This is normal text using a system that a lot of Contact Centres use. so nothing unusual.

3. Your phone is only warning you because its a shortcode and they arent smart enough to tell you if its FOC as it is in this case (I have never been charged for replying to these surveys). or is chargable..

So nothing is going wrong, and you can always pay off your contract details are here and leave Guide: Cancelling Your Contract

The mum scam has been going round for a year so you have been unlucky to get it, but its all random.. I

You ca#n turn off the alerts by calling 901 Guide: All you need to know about O2 Voicemail 901

Thankyou for your reply- I appreciate your comments as you have probably guessed I am very slow at picking up new things (I am not a younger person) so when things change and feel as though you have lost control of them in this day and age everywhere you turn someone/something is trying to scam you/us all I am naturally displeased when this happens from a company that I did not choose originally Thankyou
