Hey guys,

As I'm sure your all aware we have a lot of people come to the O2 community looking for help and advice on various subjects ranging from major hardware faults to simple settings queries. In order to help people find the right answer to their question we mark the answer as the "Accepted Solution". This is then linked to the opening post so it can be found quickly.

My question is do you think that "accepted solution" is the best way to mark the answer? Many other forums use a similar process but have different wording such as "Best Answer" or "Most helpful response" and we were curious as to what you guys think of "Accepted Solution" as a way of marking correct or helpful answers.

I would also like to hear your thoughts on "Kudos" as a way of liking posts? Do you think a simple Facebook style thumbs up would be better or is it fine as it is?

Please let me know what you think in the comments below and don't be afraid to think outside the box with alternative suggestions. Perhaps something tied in to O2's branding or wording on our main website.

Also 'best answer' by it's terminology.. does not denote correct answer. It could mean 'the best of a bad bunch'

Accepted solution is far better surely?.....#justsaying.

So who marks the contribution on a thread to say it's the "solution"? The OP or Admin, @Martin-O2?

The op or admin if the op doesnt come back.....

Thanks, @jonsie - as I thought.

There's a lot of schtuff here that has no solution marked - not good enough, or no-one's bothered to go through and pick an answer as "the answer"?

Would be good if it was done automatically based on kudos or something - I must read through this thread and see what the general consensus is (or was, at a time).

Kudos is abused already in some circumstances and generally doesn’t provide any indication of an answer being correct.
Thinking of iPhone launch threads where “it’s arrived” gets 20 kudos.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

Yes, I can see that would be open to heavy abuse under certain circumstances. It's a puzzler...

I think it's ok as it stands.

At least Admin make the effort to call the OP back to the post now, so they (the op) can give the solution.

Of course that also creates problems if they return and say 'Yes thanks, all sorted now' Smiley Very Happy

As long as they give them enough time to reply to their mention, then thats fine.

If the OP doesn't return, then Admin have to decide which post is most helpful to the question asked before they award any solution.

I also agree the kudo system can be abused, particularly as said, when the September iPhone madness is on us. Evil
