Go into settings>At the top you will see your name with Apple ID, iCloud underneath. Press that, that will have your Apple ID information & will tell you which devices are connected to your Apple ID

The only explanation i can think of is that your Apple id is connected on another device and someone is sending messages from that other device.
If not, I can’t think of any other reason?
You could ask customer service if there are any records of other devices being connected to your account and also maybe try another SIM card but other than that, it’s a bizarre mystery.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

@Mike1

Seems to be a common occurrence according to the Apple Forums.
