I can use 3G for the internet so I don't know why it keeps failing.
Any ideas?
I've already deleted the app and reinstalled it.

I would either wait until the mast is fixed or move the phone to an area that you know will work ok and test it there.

I did the speed test on the link which BoB provided and it worked.
Still can't get it to work on O2 app though.

I recently installed the MY Network app on my Galaxy S4 and ran "Test your speed" which has produced what I (a complete idiot when it comes to technical matters) find confusing. When my phone is on wifi (using my BT Home Hub router) the O2 app invariably reports upload speeds in excess of the download speeds but neithr bears any resemblance to the speeds reported when I use speedtest.net. Is this just another duff O2 offering that they can't be bothered to fix? Or is there something amiss with my phone?
Gerry.
PS - I forgot to say that when I have the phone on 3G the My Network speed tester just falls asleep.

They are intended as a guide only and should not be taken as gospel although it is very possible to have higher upload than download speeds.....

I must say the My Network app shows speeds less than half of other speed test apps I have tried in the past. Many times it shows a download speed of around 0.5Mb and then tells me excellent for streaming
