I have bought a iPhone from cex but it's o2 SIM locked and I am wondering how do I make it so I can use other SIM cards don't know what contract it was on before

Get an O2 payg sim and use it in phone for a few days.

You can then unlock it for free Guide: Unlocking an O2 phone to use a different SIM card

You will need to take it to a local phone shop (not a network) and they maybe able to unlock it.
