This month I am going to run out of my 500mb Data Allowance
BECAUSE even though I have changed nothing

On the 18th May my phone used 204.7 mb
And then overnight on the 19th a further 13.8 mb vanished whilst I was sleeping

What is going wrong - I am not using the data nor does it seem to show up on the statistics held on the mobile data area of the phone

Just so that you are aware, you aren't talking to customer service here.

Anyway in response to your question, unless you have mobile data turned off, your phone can and will use data at anytime.

Smartphones are constantly connected to a data source.

If you would like to call customer service on 202 they will investigate the issue for you.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

@RBrianW usually overnight usage is down to application updates or those doing background refresh such as mail, facebook, etc.

If you don't need them, you can turn off background refresh and auto updates in the settings (this varies depending on your handset).
