Water Damage?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Sent my Samsung Galaxy S3 away for repair under warranty as there was a software problem.  O2 Guru told me this was a common problem with the phone and would be fixed under warranty with no charge.

Today I have spoke to the repair centre who said before they can even look at the fault they have to repair the water damage!!  First I knew of any water damage, never dropped in water, dont use in bathroom etc.....they said it could of been caused from rain or condensation!!  They are wanting £65.99 to repair this....even though it causes no problem with the phones funstion!!

Is there anyway around this???  So frustrated Crazy

It's your right to demand the phone is returned to you in the same condition that it was sent (make sure you actually get your phone back). This will not cost you a penny.
We can then look at dealing with your software issue.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Ask for pictures to show the water indicators have been tripped.

They would all have to be tripped to support immersion in water.

If one has been tripped then it could be usage in rain etc.

Unfortunately if an indicator is tripped they will stop work on any primary issue.

You could either pay or ask for it back and seek redress from the manufacturer.

Unfortunately if you search the forum you will find many such cases of attempts to defraud customers using this tactic.
You would be advised to get the phone returned and to contact Samsung (or follow the flashing guides on here yourself) and then raise a complaint with O2 against their repairers.

Is there any chance that you had pictures of the phone before you sent it away?

Also, have you got the IMEI number to ensure that the phone you receive back is yours?

Nothing Whistle

It's not just O2 repairs to be wary about - it's sad but not all companies are entirely honest/genuine with regards to these things.
