Sony Xperia E4G trouble charging

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have an E4G which has been superb but lately has had trouble charging.

The device says it is charging when I plug it in, but it clearly isn't. I think I'm on borrowed time until it goes dead altogether.

This was a device I bought from O2 which I have now fully paid off. I remain on a monthly tariff contract however. Where do I stand in respect of repairs/replacement? Will O2 cover this?  I had heard that Sony's guarantees were longer than some other brands..

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Warranty is 2 years but if it's older than that you'll need to pay for repairs.
We usually recommend Sony over O2 but you might get a better deal at a local repair shop or market stall.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

O2 won’t cover it. They’ll charge you a fee & knowing their repairers it’ll be very expensive

Might be worth cleaning the phone's charger port with something like a cocktail stick first, crud in the port can cause problems charging.

Thanks Sammy_boy - to the naked eye it looks clean but I found myself a cocktail stick and scraped out a bit of muck so hopefully that will do the trick
