For a few weeks now, I'm told by various friends that they have sent me text messages and that I haven't replied.
The reason is, is that I haven't been receiving them - it's on at least 10-15 occasions over the last month I reckon.
I rang O2 and they reckon there's nothing wrong with my network settings etc, and I've tried disabling the TuGO app on my phone and iPad, but it doesn't seem to help...
How could it be the phone?!?

Thanks all - just got a new sim, so hopefully that will sort it.
Strangely, notifications of receipt of SMS are also on the blink - sometimes, no notification appears and you don't know you have a text message until you open the text message app, which then suddenly generates the envelope icon at the top of the screen....even though the message is 4 hours old!!
Thanks for your help guys - close to throwing this phone straight into the river!!!

Not sure what 'hangouts' is, so I doubt it - guy in the O2 shop looked at it and couldn't find anything wrong in my settings, reckoned it may well be something wrong with the phone itself.

If you search the apps on your phone you'll find it, it's the new text app from Google.

I have the same problem with GT S5830i but the other way round, people from o2 do not receive my texts. Did anyone find a solution to this problem?
