Update 22/10, 8:00:

Samsung has confirmed the Jelly Bean update is now available.

Update 20/10:

As you might have noticed, this hasn't gone live yet. We were expecting it to on Friday and are working with Samsung to figure out what went wrong and will update ASAP.

Original message:

Hey Guys,

Good news! The wait time is almost over for Samsung Galaxy SIII users. From tomorrow, 19th October '12, you'll be be able to upgrade to the much awaited 4.1 Jelly Bean update over Wi-Fi or via Kies.

If you have activated the 'auto-update' feature from out of box, you will be prompted to download the 4.1 Jelly Bean update.

JB

For all those on OXA Rom's, if you want O2's latest Jelly bean Rom head over to Sammobile ( http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-I9300&pcode=O2U&os=1&type=1#firmware ) and download it from there, then just flash it onto your phone with odin3.

Trust me O2 don't overload their ROM with much bloatware!

If your going to flash ur fone. Be careful as if u do it wrong ull have a nice £500 brick.

Only root ur fone if u know what your doing. Also rooting will void ur guarantee.

No root neccessary! The Rom I have posted the link to is the full O2 Rom, rather than just the OTA update.

No, you do not need to root it in order to update via Odin.

How would you do this from a Mac? Isn't Odin PC-only?

Be warned, banking applications (such as Barclays mobile banking) do not run on rooted devices, it's unfortunate but understandable as they're concerned about security.

Not something I want to lose out on, but it's really annoying as I really miss Titanium backup from my old rooted phone.

Barclays banking app now sees my Galaxy as a new device and I get error code RP002, meaning I have to phone 03..........something and spend half an hour trying to get it sorted! Smiley Frustrated
