Update 22/10, 8:00:

Samsung has confirmed the Jelly Bean update is now available.

Update 20/10:

As you might have noticed, this hasn't gone live yet. We were expecting it to on Friday and are working with Samsung to figure out what went wrong and will update ASAP.

Original message:

Hey Guys,

Good news! The wait time is almost over for Samsung Galaxy SIII users. From tomorrow, 19th October '12, you'll be be able to upgrade to the much awaited 4.1 Jelly Bean update over Wi-Fi or via Kies.

If you have activated the 'auto-update' feature from out of box, you will be prompted to download the 4.1 Jelly Bean update.

JB

hello people, just got the new "jellybean" update here, well nothing special if u ask me,a few new icons a couple of new options and that's about it really.A whole load of fuss over nothing. Can't see any difference in the fact it's supposed to b "smoother",maybe a few more restarts would do the trick? Remote controls still doesn't work either, the slider is greyed out, thought the much awaited update would resolve this.Never mind though phone still works. All this hype over not much really. So there you go,is jelly bean all that!?

Have a look here, it tells you what's in Jelly Bean: slight_smile

Here we are, early Tuesday 23rd, time 00.23 and still no Jelly Bean. either ota or through Kies. This is one p****d off, unhappy customer, what the hell is going on with this update, to begin with we can't get a date, then eventually, VERY SOON or rather a couple of months down the line we are told it is now available and updating, and to be fair some people have obviously got it, but mine does not receive the update. Am I annoyed? YES, am I losing faith in any info given? YES.

@CrystalDave - you're in same position as me which means you probably bought your phone from phoes4u or carphone warehouse and they have given you an unlocked phone with an O2 sim card - if you don't get the O2 bubbles when you switch on your phone you have an unlocked phone - usually an advantage to have one if you're traveling abroad and want to put a foreign sim or take your phone to a. New network - but not an advantage when you're waiting for a firmware update it seems! We have to wait until Samsung send it OTA to unlocked phones - I would have thought this would have been before carriers but I guess not!!
Anyone have any idea when unlocked phones will get JB? I'm sure this fuss is about nothing, the phone is great on ICS anyway, but I want to be part of the JB gang!! Feel left out 😞 lol

If you read the thread and check your CSC as stated many many times you will know if you are O2 or open. I suspect open and therefore waiting for Samsung, not O2 so go and moan somewhere else......

Looks like I have identified my problem.

Bought phone in O2 shop but had a mishap and had to get a replacement via insurance.

Looks like phone delivered to me us unbranded. I do not see O2 bubbles when phone first switched on, it's Samsung's logo!!!

I saw on DRIPPLER last night that Samsung is realising JB for open handsets. Seems to be starting in Germany.

So hopefully won't be long.
