Hello all,
First time poster. Glad to be here!
My mum's just received her new Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 handset on Pay as You Go with O2.
Reading up on tech forums it appears Samsung have released Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for this make of handset back in September. Wikipedia confirms this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Ace_2
However, when I look at the phone's About Phone page in Settings, it displays the Android version as 2.3.6 (Gingerbread).
When I try an "over the air" update or use Samsung's Kies software I am told the firmware is up to date.
How do I update my mum's handset to the most recent released software?
Any assistance gratefully received!

I'm having the same problem and there's no info about JB being released for the Ace 2 in the UK on Sammobile, so no idea how people are updating.
EDIT
It seems that the update may only be working on unlocked phones for now.

Its only been released for sim free/unlocked phones upto now.
When your phone is locked the firmware needs to be approved by the operator
before samsung can release it
it might well be O2 have already approved it and samsung are dragging their feet
because they have been very slow with this update.

Has anyone else considered reverting to Gingerbread?
I find the phone now horrendously unresponsive. All I seem to have got out of the 'upgrade' is that the phone no longer functions smoothly and bloatware, that insist it runs all the time. Am I missing something here?
Thanks
