How would I fix it without sending it to 02

With Odin if you can get it to work http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Android-Devices-Samsung-HTC-Sony/HOW-TO-A-Guide-to-using-Odin/m-p/463464/highlight/true#M18334

They will only tell you what the engineer has reported.

Hence why we are saying now approach the manufacturer under its 2 year warranty.

Would I just say that the phone won't turn on to samsung or that O2 say it's been rooted and modify and they won't fix it

Advise them the phone won't turn on.

In the end your 100% sure it has not.

They will know if it has been and advise accordingly.

I'm not sure how they can tell it's rooted (or not) if it won't turn on - Challenge them about it !!

You have no choice but to try and flash it yourself or take it to an independent repair shop and pay for repairs then.
If both O2 and Samsung say it's been rooted it must have been.

Hi,

Sorry you didn't get any further forward with this.

It is indeed perplexing that a brand new phone out of a sealed box I presume ,can have been rooted.

You really don't have much choice apart from visiting a stand alone phone shop if you don't want to try the procedure yourself as indicated by MI5.

Or purchase another handset either on Payg or from outlets that deal in traded in phones such as CEX ,so you can continue to use the services your paying for.

Let us know how you get on.
