S4 callers can't hear me.

Hi. I really hope someone can provide some advice.

My S4 started playing up yesterday whereby with any incoming or outgoing calls, I can hear the other person but they cannot hear me.

I have tested my phone in different locations for signal issues, turned on and off and I have also done a reset but both have not solved the problem.. My phone works in every other respect.

Also the phone is not damaged in any way. One minute it was fine then suddenly it wasn't.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The default setting for noise reduction is 'on' and I also turned it off to test it but still no luck.

I wish it was just my fat finger blocking the mic!

In accessibility there is an option for turn off all sounds. I don't think it is this but can you please check to see if that has a tick in it? It shouldn't

Sorry anothercustomer but it is over my head now

@MI5 will check out the schematics for you but I think as it doesn't appear to be a settings issue that it might be a repair job. O2 repairs on here at least isn't considered the best hence recommendation to send to Samsung.

Ok. Thank you for your advice anyway. I'll look up repairs then.

Right, just checked and there are 2 mics. The normal voice one at the bottom of the phone has a rubber shield around it to prevent water ingress. It looks like this could move and block the mic so it seems likely this has happened here.
You can get at it by unscrewing the back cover but this will invalidate your warranty so maybe best to send it in somewhere for repair.
