4.2.2 For HTC One X

Anonymous
Not applicable

Following Perksie's advice from the other similarly titled thread that has been listed as solved by someone, thought I'd open a new thread, so any HTC One X users can report on any correspondence they have with O2 about the roll-out of 4.2.2 to the HOX.

The last major update (to 4.1.1) left a lot of users disillusioned with O2 after conflicting answers from a variety of sources. If anyone can tell me how to post a link to that thread for reference I will. I will also copy and paste my comment from the other ('solved') thread below.

Let's hope O2 get it right this time.

@Toby & @Chiara, can you help us at all....?

Well..... just this minute, 15.45, I've had a Twitter reply.

Guess what...... "no more info at moment, keep eye on updates" :o/

I'll be very surprised if you get an answer for this as O2 rarely say a word until the last minute before release of any updates.

Sound typical of o2, bear in mind the last update went the same way, each guru will tell you something different, the only route o2 should consider now, is not branding their handsets, I download the apps they put on so what's the difference! Wakey wakey O2!!!!

So..... so far today we've had "no more info, check updates", "sometime in October" and "3 to 5 working days".

I know it's hardly "life and death" but the issue is that most of, if not all, the other UK carriers have rolled it out but no one within O2 seems to be "reading from the same page".

Bad customer relations, imo !

My wife was quite impressed with the Blinkfeed page, but after a few minutes she asked 'where are all my apps?' - she wanted her old homescreen back.

I like the new font and several small touches, I think it'll be enough to keep me int'rested for a few weeks...

There are indications that Google is trying to sidestep these big updates anyway, they are rolling out updates to Google Play Services which allow them to update Gapps without the assistance of the service providers (e.g. O2):

In light of this, I find this statement very interesting:

It's our goal with Android Kitkat to make an amazing Android experience available for everybody

That would suit me fine, if only the carriers would do the same !

There's a thread running on the xda developers forum re 4.2.2 sense 5 update, 48 pages of, mostly, people saying they haven't got it yet.

I'm worried about Toby, he went away to get us an update yesterday and never came back. Maybe he's stuck in the testing room where the update is being tested, in which case we may never see him again.I'd ask a guru but they'll probably just repeat refer me to the website or just say October.
