4.2.2 For HTC One X

Anonymous
Not applicable

Following Perksie's advice from the other similarly titled thread that has been listed as solved by someone, thought I'd open a new thread, so any HTC One X users can report on any correspondence they have with O2 about the roll-out of 4.2.2 to the HOX.

The last major update (to 4.1.1) left a lot of users disillusioned with O2 after conflicting answers from a variety of sources. If anyone can tell me how to post a link to that thread for reference I will. I will also copy and paste my comment from the other ('solved') thread below.

Let's hope O2 get it right this time.

@Toby & @Chiara, can you help us at all....?

One x plus here. Didn't take to long to download, took bit longer to install. 400 odd mb in size. First impressions are positive.

Still nothing for my standard One X - I thought the only real difference was the screen size? Surely the update should fit both devices???

Anyone who's had update for HOX+ noticed there's no "homepage" button in stock browser. Not impressed with that, that's main reason I've stuck with stock browser over ones from play store.

Or maybe I just can't find it, anyone ???

PS...... You can set your "homepage" in settings but there doesn't appear to be a button to load it ! !

O2 : Thomas: at 15:00:10
Dale right now the version 4.1 is only working.
O2 : Thomas: at 15:00:35
The new version is an auto-matic update.
O2 : Thomas: at 15:00:47
Which you will get on your phone.
O2 : Thomas: at 15:01:12
As soon It releases for HTC one x.
Dale: at 14:59:10

Dale: at 14:59:16
think*
O2 : Thomas: at 15:01:55
I got that.
O2 : Thomas: at 15:02:40
You'll get a notification to update to version 4.2.2 automatically on your phone.
O2 : Thomas: at 15:03:57
You can also download the latest version on your PC or laptop through HTC website.
O2 : Thomas: at 15:04:24
And then sync your phone with the PC or laptop and upload the version on your phone.
Dale: at 15:02:14
yes, but WHEN will I receive said notification? - is it currently being released from yourselves?
O2 : Thomas: at 15:05:32
It will receive it soon.
O2 : Thomas: at 15:05:55
On your phone, we do not have a specific time for this.
O2 : Thomas: at 15:06:21
You can download it from the PC and Laptop.
O2 : Thomas: at 15:06:33
Rifht now....
O2 : Thomas: at 15:06:54
Download the Htc sync manager on your Laptop.
O2 : Thomas: at 15:07:46
Then you need to download the the version 4.2.2 on your laptop.
O2 : Thomas: at 15:08:08
Then sync it with the HTC sync manager of your laptop.
Dale: at 15:08:19
ok, I will try this but I thought it was OTA update?
O2 : Thomas: at 15:11:29
Sure you can do that.
O2 : Thomas: at 15:11:31
Is there anything else I can help you with?

Guess what!?!? - STILL NO UPDATE FROM HTC SYNC, OR OTA

The way I understand it, this is complete and utter tosh because the whole reason we can't get the update direct from HTC is because O2 themselves have locked the phones so we have to have their bloatware installed! As per the start of the thread the users with the unbranded HOXs on O2 have already had the update - it's O2 who are preventing everyone else from getting it!

Where do they find these idiots???

It's HTC that send us the updates, in my previous post, o2 test it then tell HTC to release, those batch numbers. We wouldnt be waiting if o2 didn't insist on bloatware, and i wouldn't be waiting if o2 didn't insist on taking all contracts back from carphone warehouse 2 years ago!!
