Hello all,

I'm Karen, I'm new to these boards, but have been with O2 since 2006. I had a Samsung Wave 7230, swapped it with someone last week for an Iphone 3g (I thought she was daft for wanting that swap, but it went ahead and now I can get more when I recycle it net week) I'm currently due to upgrade my phone this coming weekend and can't decided which phone to get......any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Look forward to chatting with you folks x

Hi colagirl,

What options have you got?

I think the main contenders would be;
•Samsung galaxy s3
•iPhone 5
•nexus

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. So Ive been told wink

hi Karen

the Samsung wave uses Samsung's.own software (bada)

the nexus 4 uses pure android software (and it's the.latest version)
Samsung galaxy s3 uses a fairly up to date version of android and a lil bit of Samsung's extras
iPhone 5 obviously uses the latest version of IOS

so it's really down to the contract monthly cost plus possible phone cost and what u want from the phone and how simple etc u want the fone to be.

if ur still not sure there are a couple of good review sites (my fave are) cent UK . techradar . gsmarena

u could also look at tablet and free fone deals. these are mainly available via multi network shops.

Well, I don't want to increase my monthly bill by much, so have narrowed it down - i think..... - to

Sony Xperia U

Sony Xperia J

Sony Xperia P

Nokia Lumia 800

Any other similar options welcomed......I just don't know much about any of them, am confused by the different operationg systems......the difference between the U & J is most confusing - one has better video, other seems to have more recent OS.....how can the more recent OS have the older video system?
As you may have worked out, altho I love phones and can work most when they're in my hands (up to recent times, I have had every type of phone going over the years.....) I don't really understand all the technical bit Smiley Frustrated

was wondering about the multi network shops - would I be able to get my upgrade from one of these places? or do i have to go direct to O2 shop/online? they do seem to have better offers in the multi network shops!!

well as u see there is a huge variant of phones n software.

some of the NON nokia lumia will be quite easy and prob similar to the wave handset (in my opinion)

of all you want is the.odd bit of facebook and minor internet use. otherwise just texting and calling I suggest some of the Nokias with a keypad. as they are perfect for that sort of use.

if u want a singing dancing fone then the choice is vast slight_smile lol

u could go for an iPhone 4s (which would be very similar to ur 3g) which I think is avail on cheaper tariffs now the iPhone 5 is here.

all of us on here will suggest differing fones but it's ur choice. maybe pop in store to play with a couple of fones to see which u prefer.

I have been in and played with the Sony Experia J, liked that.....trouble being there is never the full range in our local store! maybe time for a trip to the local multi network stores then......they seem to have better deals and some even throw in some games consoles!! I've narrowed down the contract I'd probably go for -

200 mins
Unlimited Texts
500MB data

1 month early upgrade &
250 O2 to O2 minutes

£21.50

As my current one, altho £15 a month, usually ends up around the £20 mark......I don't make many calls, text a fair amount and would like to be able to access internet/facebook on my long boring lunches at work!

I just been on o2 shop

the Samsung ace 2 is free on the £21.50 tariff

the Samsung ace is a very popular handset and (stating the obvious) this is the new version!
