My Virgin contract has just been transferred to o2. I have a fairly old samsung galaxy phone which I dropped last week, smashing the screen quite badly. I have been given a samsung galaxy phone that is a newer model with which my contract sim is not compatible. I do not want to buy a new phone / contract as my phone needs are not sophisticated. Is it possible to have my current contract transferred to a new sim that would be compatible with my new phone?

Yes, the easiest option is to call in a O2 store with photo ID and they will swap  the sim for you free of charge retaining your mobile number

Or you can call them but expect a new sim in 7 working days to be sent via Royal Mail

@Julia9

No need to take out a new contract

You have 2 options to do a Sim Swap.

The quickest is to take Photo ID with you and pop into your local o2 shop, and they can swap your number to the new sim card

The other option is to call o2 on 0344 809 0202 or 202 (from and o2 phone), and one will be posted out to you.
