Have you checked your network status? https://status.o2.co.uk/
If that's ok, you may need a new sim.
You'll need to call O2.

Advice from an O2 Guru regarding a way to get through:
When you call, you will be asked for the reason you are calling,
Stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to an advisor.
Press Upgrade, Lost/Stolen or Fraud if you have to.

@Colin7 Hi, You say the phone is about 3 months old,
Was the phone working okay before and has this suddenly started happening?
If you know somebody with an O2 or unlocked phone try swaping over SIM's and see if it is still breaking up - If yes it's the network, if no it's your phone.
