Hi,
I am trying to find out if I can upgrade via third party website such as (mobilephonedirect) if I'm O2 app it shows that I am eligible for upgrade? I have spoken with different chat gurus and they've given me different answers. Such as one says that I can and then the other says that I can't. I have check O2 community answers and it appears that I can but it was answered in 2014 so I am not sure if their policy has changed or something. As far I remember I previously upgraded via third party and it wasn't an issue. So can a guru please give me definitive anwser? Thanks

You can upgrade anywhere but you'll need to pay off an existing contract unless it has reached it's minimum term.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

The length of time you committed to your contract. Usually 2 years but can be anything from 3 months to 3 years. It depends on what you signed up for.

If you have reached the minimum term of your existing deal, then you could also take a NEW contract via MPD and then get customer services to transfer your number to the new deal.
This has two benefits - 1 is that a new deal has better offers than upgrades, and 2 is that it closes your old account.

Please note, this is not customer services and we cannot access your account. Do not publish personal details (email, phone number, bank account).

Hi,
Thanks for your replies, how do I find out if I have reached my minimum term? What actually happened is that I upgraded to a 100gb SIM deal in 12/2019. I then upgraded to iPhone pro but did not like the phone so sent it back, but with this phone upgraded they upgraded my airtime package is well. Even after getting their phone back 01they did not revert back my sim package. I called them again and they put me on another new SIM deal. I spoke with them via their chat service, one agent told me one thing and other one another.

Your MyO2 should tell you when you are clear to upgrade elsewhere but if you want to upgrade with O2, you can do that at anytime as you are on a SIM only account.
