Quickest way to get a new contract is in store.

Your husband will need to take photographic ID with him.

Number migration details as per the guide I posted earlier in the day and since repeated.

A cheaper option is to use use USwitch

https://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/compare/sim_only_deals/o2/

Choose the deal you want

This will automatically redirect you to the O2 website to complete the order.

However, this could take longer to get approved.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

You can't do that.

Your husband needs to pass credit checks so needs to get an account in his name first.

Then he needs to sign up for an o2 contract, and pass the credit checks and affordability checks, after which you need to contact o2 to pay off your current contract and transfer it over Guide: Migration & porting into O2  Guide: How to find help & contact O2
