Went to O2 shop and got new phone, new SIM required. That was yesterday about 10..30. Still no phone service..is this normal?

Have you checked your old sim in your new phone? That should still work.
I'm surprised that you went instore and they didn't swap your sim while you were there.

If you need a new sim, quickest way is to pop back instore and they will swap everything over for you. Remember to take ID.
