Hi my sim card stopped working this friday randomly, my phone Samsung Galaxy S20 FE doesn't even detect it and even if its put inside another phone it still does not get detected. also a quick off topic question if I upgrade my phone would it come with a new working SIM card with the same phone number.

Just call into an O2 shop with photo ID and get it replaced. That's the quick and easy way.
If you upgrade you can get a new SIM with the existing number, but not if you take out a new contract. You would then need to migrate the old number across
