Porting landline number

Hi. I want to get rid of my landline in the house but keep the number as I have had it for years and most people know it. How is this possible please

Not possible at all, unless you plan on getting another landline.

There's no way a landline number can be used on a mobile without it being active.

I think that what @John7777 is trying to do is to keep the number for incoming calls but to avoid paying a line rental ?
