Hi all,

I’ve been with O2 for ages on pay monthly. We recently moved house and are waiting for broadband to be installed. I’ve been using my phone as hotspot but have almost used up all of my 25gb data allowance on my pay monthly sim. Maximum data bolt on was only 12gb and v expensive so instead I’ve got a payg o2 sim and topped up £30 for the big bundle of 125gb data. All topped up no problem. But with the o2 payg sim in I’m only picking up 3G. Switch back to pay monthly o2 sim and back in 4g. Any ideas? I’ve been through all the usual stuff on mobile data on my iPhone (iPhone SE) - turning on and off. Selecting 4g as preferred network…

To start

Make sure the APN is set to

APN: payandgo.o2.co.uk

Username: payandgo

Password: password

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

@Andrew123Harris

\The next obvious thing is a faulty sim card.

Pop into any O2 store with photo ID and ask them to swap it for you.

If you picked up the PAYG SIM card in a shop, @Andrew123Harris, and not from an O2 shop, you may find the SIM is old stock - any O2 shop, as pointed out above, will exchange it for you for free and ensure your number and balance are moved from old to new PAYG SIM, as your £30 big bundle credit is now used and  is tied to the 3G only SIM. Good luck.

O2 wouldn't send out an old, non-4G PAYG SIM now, would they...? 🤨
