New phone WhatsApp not receiving verification code

My old iPhone was completely broken, got new iPhone 15, everything backed up from Cloud, but WhatsApp completely driving me insane.  I keep going round a loop, entering my phone number, but it wants to send verification my OLD PHONE, which isn't working to receive  it.  I tried asking for a telephone call, timed out, asked for email verification - nothing received even in SPAM.

How do I get to use WhatsApp on my new iPhone 15 and set it up without my old phone, which seems to be an essential part of the setting up process for the new phone?  I can't be the first person who hasn't got their old phone to receive the verification number?  HELP HELP HELP please

You can only restore a Whatsapp backup to the same phone number, so you need to migrate your old number to the new contract.

Thanks for the advice.  I kept the old phone number and same contract, the issue is Whats App keep trying to send the verification to my existing number to my old (and completely non working) old phone.  Tried getting verification sent by email and for them to phone me, but neither came through.

Been trying other things suggested, had 3 other people physically try to sort out for me, followed other online suggestions, but still no solution.  Any ideas??

If your number is working on the new phone, it should come through to it as the number is the number, no matter which phone it is on.

Try logging into icloud online and remove your old device, check your contact number is correct in your icloud account settings, then check on phone under Settings >General >My Number.

Also make sure you are signed into your Apple account on the new phone etc....
