Hi i am looking to upgrade to the i phone 15 pro max from the iPhone 11 pro max and don't wish to use an e sim i need to know if i can switch the existing sim in my 11 directly to the 15?

So long as your 15 pro has not been purchased in the USA (dual e-sim only model), @Flatcaptf - then just pop the nano SIM out of your 11 pro and pop it into the tray in your 15 pro, you should be good to go.
If your SIM only supports up to 4G, and you have 5G in your area, pop into an O2 shop, with some photo id, and they will move you over to a 5G capable nano sim free of charge.
