Hi,

I joined O2 about 8 weeks ago on a sim only contract but ported my old number from EE across to O2 and the new number was logged on the O2 account as an alias. This week I got a new handset and havent manged to complete the set up process unfortunately. The problem is that my initial O2 number is showing so my apple ID is not allowing me access to anything - can anyone advise on the best route to take please ? Thanks in advance.

Assuming your number has transferred OK, go to:

Settings >Apps >Phone >My number and change it. to your correct number.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

There is no link between your Apple ID and your o2 account..

You just need to go into settings and change your mobile number to your ported in number
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/254708669?sortBy=rank

if it is the phone number linked to your Apple ID then the below:

o change the phone number associated with your Apple ID on your iPhone, go to Settings > [Your Name] > Sign-In & Security, then tap your primary phone number and follow the on-screen instructions to remove the old number and add a new one.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

    • Open Settings: Go to the Settings app on your iPhone.
    • Tap on Your Name: Tap on your name at the top of the Settings app, where your Apple ID information is displayed.
    • Select Sign-In & Security: Tap on "Sign-In & Security".
    • Tap on Your Primary Phone Number: You'll see your current primary phone number associated with your Apple ID. Tap on it.
  • Remove or Change:

  • To remove the phone number: Tap "Remove from Account".
  •

  • To change to a different primary phone number:

  • Turn off "Primary Phone Number".
  •

  • You'll be prompted to choose another primary phone number. You can either choose one of your other phone numbers associated with your account or add a new one.
  •

  • Follow the on-screen steps to enter and verify your new primary phone number.
  •
  •
  • Follow the Instructions: Carefully follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
Additional Notes:
  • Trusted Phone Numbers:
You can also manage trusted phone numbers for two-factor authentication in the same area: Settings > [Your Name] > Sign-In & Security > Two-Factor Authentication.

  • iMessage and FaceTime:
If you change your phone number, you may need to update it in Messages and FaceTime settings as well.

  • Apple Account vs. SIM Card:
Changing your phone number on your iPhone doesn't automatically change the number associated with your mobile carrier or SIM card. You'll need to contact your carrier to change that number.

  • If you have trouble:
If you have difficulty changing your phone number, you can contact Apple Support for assistance.
This is not customer services and we dont have access to your account
I do not work for o2 or any VMo2 /Telefonica/Liberty Global Company
