Ever since Virgin media stopped properly supporting WiFi on the London Underground I've tried to switch to using O2's WiFi. I am on O2 and can see the WiFi Extra network but it doesn't auto connect me. If I try to connect manually it asks for a username and password, which I understand is what's meant to happen as you're not supposed to try manually connect.
So I am unable to connect. On this forum I've seen others with the same issue yet O2 customer support seem to have been able to help resolve it somehow. Any ideas?

5g is being rolled out across the underground network to compensate for the retirement of this WiFi service, @Savarok - a search in the forum here for "WiFi extra" sorted by date will get you the latest. Good luck!

FYI. This has been put out by Virgin
The Virgin service was closed down on the 29th March it seems
Hello.
We wanted to provide an update to this thread and unfortunately, this service won’t be available through Virgin Mobile.
Following Virgin Media and O2’s merger in June 2021, we're starting to move all Virgin Mobile customers over to O2’s range of plans. We started in March and will complete by end of December 2023. Once you have been moved over to O2 you'll be able to re-connect to WiFi Extra through your WiFi settings. Before this time, if you wish to continue using WiFi in the London Underground, please let us know and one of our agents can discuss what options you have but it’ll likely require you to move over to an O2 Plan.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Hi. I am an existing o2 customer and my Wifi Extra access on the tube stopped with this migration.
Under settings I am prompted to enter: Identity, Anonymous Identity and Password.
This issue arose before and my profile needed to be corrected by the tech team.
Please can you fix this, again?

The Virgin Media based service has been ceased, there is no migration. And BAI now run the service.
I would start by forgetting the WiFi Extra network on the phone.. Reboot your phone and start again.
If you have any issues then follow this page https://www.o2.co.uk/help/network-coverage-and-international/wifi-on-the-underground

Thank you @madasaf1sh.
I've already completed those steps and other trouble shooting with no success. The Wifi on the Underground page doesn't give any guidance on how to escalate for further support.
Please advise.

I would contact o2 and ask them, unfortunately, the company who have provided no information... Bit might be worth trying these 2 options:
Turn on the WiFi on your device
Go to WiFi settings
Select Add network
Enter WiFi Extra as the network name
Under security select WPA/WPA2-Enterprise (varies by device and may say WPA/WPA2/WPA3-Enterprise on some handsets)
Under EAP method, select SIM
(If your device shows Select SIM card, it should be set to o2)
Select Save
Check that Wifi Extra now appears in your Saved networks list
Or try this..
Once in range of the London Underground, turn on your WiFi
Select Wifi Extra from the list of available networks
Select the 'access method' to EAP
Set your 'EAP method' to SIM
