Hi. I have recently been transferred from Virgin Media to O2. I now have an O2 sim in my One+ 8T Android phone but cannot connect to o2 on the London Underground.

Any suggestions, please? Four of your stores have so far been unable to solve this.

@Markk Virgin have shut down their WiFi service on the underground. 4G is being rolled out.

Thank you, @Bambino. Yes, I know that Virgin have ended their service. I am now have an O2 sim but cannot connect to the Tube network. The 'Wifi Extra' form does not automatically populate with data needed to complete the connection.

Try this:

1. Open WiFi settings

2. Click Add network

3. Set network name/SSID: Wifi Extra

4. Set security: WPA/WPA2/WPA3-ENTERPRISE

5. Choose EAP method: Sim

6. Click Save

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

Thank you @MI5. I'll try that when I am near a Tube station tomorrow.

No, that did not work. Could not access Wifi Extra. Thank you anyway MI5.

I visited another O2 store -the FIFTH in this saga - and in-store my phone could access Wifi Extra but the staff did not know what text needed to be entered, it is supposed to populate itself automatically.

And they claim that O2's service on the Tube network has been suspended, possibly permanently. I do not think that is the case because my wife is on O2 and her phone connects to wifi underground.

But if it is true, I shall be terminating my relationship with O2 and finding a service provider that...provides service in London.

@Markk

The WiFi is provided by BAI and not o2, so if there is an issue with authentication then it is down to them, as its just an SSID on top of there network service.

You dont need to enter any text as it uses you sim card to authenticate..
