Iphone 11 has lost access to network since recent IOS update

I have an Iphone 11 contract for my son, but since a recent update IOS 16.2 in Dec, he has lost network access even though he should have 4GB available, so is unable to receive texts, send messages or make calls, even if connected to Wifi. I did webchat with someone who provided limited help but sent new sim, but of course, this needs to be activated and as he cannot receive texts, we are struggling. Any suggestions?

You need to call customer services to activate the new sim card, they can be contacted on for PAYG 0344 809 0222 and if on Pay Monthly 0344 809 0202

You would have been better advised to try a full network settings reset on the phone...

- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

Thank you. I am getting so frustrated as he has not had access now for nearly a month and on mobile contract. I think we tried a full network access reset but this didnt work. He can use wifi for searching but unable to use phone for everything else.

If the SIM works in another phone  then it's an iPhone issue.

A quick Google seems to suggest this is not uncommon

Don't know if any of the tips here work

https://www.imobie.com/ios-update/ios-no-service-after-update.htm

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Sending a new sim would have automatically disconnected the original sim

These problems with new sims have been going on for months and O2 can't seem to even do the simple things these days
