Gave PAC when I ordered SIM online, will they automatically port when I activate the SIM?

Ordered it nearly a week ago, activated it (or put it into the phone) today. I've been given a temporary number but do I have to do anything if I want my old number? I've already given the PAC (from another provider) to them when ordering the sim.

It might be worth trying to submit the PAC again @Jigsawe24 if you haven't had a text confirming the number swap.

There is a form you can complete - see how in the guide below

Guide: Migration & porting into O2

Please note, this is not customer services and we cannot access your account. Do not publish personal details (email, phone number, bank account).

Thank you! But if I had to fill out the form again, what was the point of putting in the PAC when I was ordering the sim? Does anyone know anything about that?

@Jigsawe24 This is a customer community. We have no access to anyone's account. If the port doesn't happen today, it won't happen until next week, as O2 don't do ports on the weekend. Best to call customer service to chase it up.

Thank you for your reply. I don't think you understand my query, but if i have been vague i'm sorry, but this is nothing to do with personal accounts. When I was ordering my O2 sim online on the O2 website, there was a tab where it says "Switching to O2?" where I could input my PAC/STAC code should I wish. It said that it would take 1 working day to port the number, and in the meanwhile a temporary number has been (or will be?) issued. Do they port as soon as the SIM is activated, or should the porting have been already processed, given i ordered this SIM nearly a week ago?

My phone has the temporary number, so im presuming they will automatically port it in one working day, just want confirmation as I haven't received anything about porting. I will fill in the form in case.

Thanks

@Jigsawe24 I understood your query. If you began the process a week ago the port should have happened by now. Have you switched the phone off and back on again? If you still have the temporary number you should contact customer service.

By process do you mean ordering the sim or putting it into the phone? If the former, yes that was nearly a week ago now, and i've just put it into the phone today. Restarting hasn't done anything yet. And thanks, i will try that.

Hey

I know this is a year old but what happened ?

I did the same as you.

ordered online and gave pac code.

sim arrives today 2 days later

it’s Saturday so I guess no port will happen even though I have inserted the new o2 sim..

it’s running the new temp o2 number right now.

just wondered how your situation ended up ?

thanks

Having activated the new SIM I always revert to the old one and wait for it to stop working. This is what is often recommended by some networks

This from an email recently as I was porting a number

On the day of the port your current mobile service from your current provider will stop working. At this time please swap your old SIM with the one we have sent you.

You may experience a loss of service for about 2 hours. After which you should restart your phone and you will be connected

If O2 need to text you it will be on the old number.

If nothing happens Monday contact O2

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
