None of the ways I've found anywhere work. The only thing I've not done is contact customer services, maybe that does work.
It's bizarre that O2 insist on inflicting such a short ring time on us and then break the method of addressing that and it seems it has been broken for some months as far as I can see.

Hi please can I have help? I have tried these instructions and my phone says it was successful. But there are still not enough rings before voicemail kicks in. It rings for 18 seconds. Thank you
