If you have paid by bank transfer or direct debit, I suggest that you contact you bank before approaching O2. You need to obtain the unique transaction identification number for your remittance, which is likely to be a sixteen digit number.
O2 will then use the number to search in their accounting records. This will enable them to locate your remittance and correctly allocate it against your account.
