Can anybody help? I have the new ultra  two and a series 10 Apple Watch purchased from O2. I purchased the data plan for the watches, but I just cannot text once I’m away from the phone. It will not work. After contacting O2 multiple times so many people are saying no you can’t text at all because the data plan doesn’t do it and the other half says yes you can so I’m stuck because a lot of the misleading information does anybody have an ultra 2  to or a series 10 on an O2 data plan that they can send text  when they’re not with their phone

Still the same answers as all your other posts.

This one has been done to death.

@Kev975

My Apple Watch Ultra 2 sends texts fine using the mobile number it is linked to, sent one today and the phone was in the car charging...  (my AWU2 was purchased from Amazon)

Daft question, but you are paying the £7 a month Sync Plan from o2 on each number, and not just a random data plan??

When you go into the settings on the Watch and Mobile Service are Both Mobile Service and Mobile Data Green..

And does it show as connected??

Also have a look here https://support.apple.com/en-gb/108768 it might be worth speaking to Apple as well

Yeah, get the same answers, but it’s now been five months  45 calls 27 emails And still can’t get straight answer with 02. Some yes you can send a text or others no it’s impossible. The watches  is still aren’t working and now they refuse to take them back cause it’s been too long and I am £6,000 out of pocket with watches that don’t send or receive sms  if your phone is not with you. So to you, it might be done to death but not to me when I’m £6000 out of pocket

Hi thanks for taking the time to reply. Four of the watches were brought from Apple itself and the last two the ultra 2 and  the series 10 i purchased from the O2 store and got set up in the O2 store but still not one of these watches for any of us will send a text if we’re away from the phone And now according to O2 after a 3 hour call today I am told you cannot text on their data plan at all for a watch as it will not send sms if away from phone. So even more baffled because I was told in the shop we could Apple said we could O2 said we could when i brought them  and now after  four months of arguing Got nowhere apart from today after three hour phone call on hold for nearly 2 hours 15 minutes of that to be told nope the data plan you cannot send a text or receive a text if you’re away from the phone so I’m even more baffled because this isn’t what I was told originally. They said there is only one watch data plan and it’s a data plan with zero  UK text is what they’re now telling me today That the watch  data plan that is the only data plan they do for an Apple Watch at £7 a month which I know cause I’ve been paying it for nearly 4 months. Yes, when you go into the mobile data etc they both show green and then when it connects it comes up green on the watch saying 4G when you try to send a text you get a green line going across it freezes and that’s it. Nothing will ever happen. It’ll stay like that all day until I delete it. you cannot send or receive a text on it or even get notification but then when you come back home and your watch connects to your phone then your able to send texts  and receive as normal and you’ll get all messages flying through to the phone saying fail text  for the  ones you tried to send while you was on the data plan but  away from your phone. So when you connected to your phone when it’s with you and the watch you can send SMS no problem and receive notifications no problem but as soon as you leave your phone at home and go out and then switch to the data plan you cannot send or receive a text from get notification even though it’s on all you get as I said is a green line going across the screen it’ll freeze halfway and that’s as much as you get until they go back to your phone and then as above it starts working perfectly and then you get all notification saying text failed while he was on the data plan. But they’ve said today they have one plan and it does not include texting. You cannot text on that plan so I a, just baffled and now saying I cannot return the watches for the £6,000 as had the, to long

@Kev975 Yes, a sorry state of affairs and it may be good to explain things to get your thoughts in order, however there are just a handful of regular posters on here and we have exhausted our limited knowledge base.

 Sorry, but your options as I see it would be to go through the official complaints procedure (takes around eight week) after which the Commentators Ombudsman can become involved. Or you can seek legal advice. (Maybe both)

@Kev975 - how many phones and watches and any other devices to you have in a single MyO2 account?  There was a case not long ago where the MyO2 limit for associated phones and devices was reached, the only way the subscriber could get the watch working as it should was to split out his phone and watch to a new MyO2 account - or maybe one or two of the others on the same account were split out to their own, new, MyO2 account - either way, the limitation was in MyO2 itself when trying to add the latest watch and set it up to use the relevant phone... just a thought.

Hi thanks for your reply ombudsman is a joke. I put complaint in I sent them over 40 voice call messages over 30 pages of emails when nobody replied and they came back saying  O2  said they’re sorry and give me £10 and that was it which is actually outrageous. O2 literally wrote about eight lines. They just accepted it and ignored every bit of evidence that I sent them as above. Stuck in the hole with all these watches and Just still cannot do text as explained. Even Apple Head Office called me twice from America and said 100% it’s  got to be the data carrier as in O2 they even sent me an email telling me that but as above ombudsman  just didn’t want  know just believe the few lines that O2 sent which is outrageous
