I've just started a new contract and after 24 hours it is suddenly telling me that the sim I have inserted is invalid or missing. What's going on?

What sort of phone have you got? Is it new....and did the sim come with it?

A lot of questions I know but we need to understand why the phone should suddenly stop working after 24hrs. It sounds as if you may have the wrong sim for the phone.....

Did you already have the phone and go for a sim only contract?..

You need to contact Customer Services on 202, explain the problem and they will ask you a few questions and if it is a sim problem would hopefully send you a new one out...:smileyhappy:

Its a Lumia 735 and the handset and sim came as a package. I have tried the sim in my old phone and it appears to work fine. Everything else on the phone works as expected, it just keeps telling me that the sim is invalid.

Was this a new number or have you kept the old number?

Did you do the sim swap here : Swap my sim

...or are you keeping the number that came with the sim?

Have you tried a simple reboot of the phone?

Hi

So by your own process of elimination by knowing the new SIM card works in your previous phone fine , somehow your new phone is at fault.

Try checking the sim port to see that their is nothing in there and and ensure the sim is seated correctly.

If it continues you have 14 days from receiving the phone to have it swapped out. -> http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,question=ref%28User%29:str%28Mob...

If your after 14 days they'll want to send it away for repair. I'd strongly suggest using the manufacturer for this. Their uk support site can be found online or some Carphone Warehouses have Repair Centres in them.

I hope it's a glitch and not a fault so yiu can just get on with using your new phone.

You say the new sim that came with the phone works in your old phone? Was that just a quick test or did you leave it in the phone for longer than 24hrs to see if it continued to work? Either way I would be looking to swap this phone. You say its new ...in that case you have 14days to exchange it. The shop staff would also look and see if they could identify the problem They may give you a new sim to try initially.

Best of luck slight_smile
