so im on a 24 month contract and pay £27 for unlimited mobile and text calls, but only 1gb of data.
my friend who is with three pays £32 and has unlimited thethering and data.
??????
so I can get unlimited data with three and 2gb of data with o2 for the same price?
im really unhappy with my o2 tariff and want to change, what can I do?

There £23 pound a month sim only looks good unlimited everything for that price and free 0800 which I know is coming anyway but not till next year
12 month contract though. And tethering data is limited to 4GB.
I have a one month sim only for £18 a month which has 2000 minutes, 5000 texts, 5000 3-3 minutes and unlimited data including unlimited tethering. So as close to unlimited everything as makes no odds on a one month contract for far cheaper than the equivalent current tariff especially as current pricing includes a £2 a month discount according to the website
I'm sure their pricing will drop at some point though. If I recall correctly, the one plan started at £25 or £26 a month on sim only and then came down. I'm also pretty sure I am going to be bombarded with deals before long to try and get me off my current tariff to try and make me lose unlimited tethering. If any of those deals are on the iPhone 6 I may be tempted. I can always fall back onto my 15GB iPad sim for tethering

Another option : You could always buy the iPhone 6 Sim free and stay on what your currently using.
That is my current plan unless I get offered something fantastic to move

i just spoke with o2 and they said they can only offer +1gb of data for an extra 5 pounds per month
really unhappy now so ill have to wait until the end of my contract then cancel with o2 I thought after being with them for 6 years could get a better deal. but the advisor on the phone wasnt prepared to offer me anything.

They don't think long term unfortunately. They have you tied into a contract and it seems they aren't too bothered about trying to retain you in the future. With numbers growing by the quarter they are quite prepared to lose a few along the way. That seems to be the business plan nowadays.
