I know I'm probably asking a stupid question if I go into Tesco and buy a phone can i put my o2 sim card in and won't change a thing on my sim only contract

Yes, as long as it's an O2 or sim free phone.

Tesco phones don't always accept O2 SIMs, but Tesco SIMs will be fine in an O2 phone. You need to make sure the phone is unlocked...

Yes, it definitely has to be an O2 PAYG phone or a sim free one.
If you buy from Carphone Warehouse, they are all sim free.

So if I get an o2 pay as u go phone I can put my o2 sim in if I go to Carphone warehouse:)
