I've just received the following text:
You've successfully added your wifi service to your My O2 account. Don't forget you can manage your account on the O2 Wifi app http://www.o2.co.uk/apps/wifi. For more apps from O2, take a look here http://www.o2.co.uk/apps.
I received it imemdaitley after signing into the O2 website. I'm on my home wifi. Googling doesn't solve the mystery.
What does this SMS mean? I haven't successfully done anything, as success implies intent. I also haven't added anything to anything, rather O2 appears to have added something to My O2 account without my consent - if it's information on my wifi connection, that would be a blatant breach of data protection legislation.
If anyone could explain what this means, I'd be very grateful.

Just delete it. It’s an automated generic sms. I had the same one a few weeks ago when I upgraded

It means you can make calls over WiFi when you don’t have a phone signal.

It's a genuine generic text that seems to go out to everyone whether they've connected to O2 wifi or not. Possibly no need to sign in now as they may be automatically registering all customers. Not had one myself as I registered yes ago.

Thanks to all for the information.
So all this means is that they've activated wifi calling?
Hey O2, no offence, but if that's the case, why doesn't your text say that. Why make it completely imcomprehensible?

Looking at the links I'd agree jonsie, although wifi calling would be possible over an O2 hotspot.
