Using o2 in europe

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have an iphone on monthly cotract with international traveller bolt. I am thinking of getting my wife an o2 PAYG sim for her mobile so we can get free calls to each other, I understand this only applies to UK mobiles but would that apply if both the mobiles, allthough UK registered, were in Europe, i.e, if we are both in France and phpne each other.

Any suggestions as to whether this will work or alternatives would be much appreciated.

why not get her a 1 month sim only plan.

Then you both get O2 Travel, which in france would charge you 50p per call instead of a charge per minute.

Thats likely cheaper than a local sim card as there would be minimum top of 15 or 20 euros, and you couldn't use any unused balance when you get back to the UK.

Good luck and let us know what you do !

No, if you were both overseas, albeit in the same country, you would both incur roaming costs for calls and texts. The only real alternative is a local sim card or using apps such as WhatsApp which gives you free calls and texts but only over wifi.
