Upgrading from 3G to 4G as a current customer

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi all after reading an article on Engadget about O2 dropping there 4G prices to £17 a month (my current 3G bill is £17 before phone payment) I called them up to ask if I could move to 4G as I already have a 4G phone (iPhone 5S) they came back saying my tariff is still £22 for 4G if I want to upgrade.

I am I missing something my current tariff is a 1gb cap.

Hopefully we will get some clarification soon, I was told by a supervisor I can expect a call back if they get more information.

Just had a call back from "Steve" (thanks for that Toby) and he informs me that every eligible number will migrate across to the upgrade/discount automatically in January.
In my case, "My O2" will still show the data bolt on at £5 but I will get an automatic £5 discount in my bill section each month.

I'm on a £22 + £5 for 5gb data on 4G which means I pay £27.01 with O2?

I just spoke to a customer service guy who wasnt sure regarding what was happening but was extremely helpful and found out the info.

He has come back to me advising that the discounts will be applied from the 6th jan 2014.

As my bill was produced today I still have to pay the £5 for the data, however on the 20th Jan I will get my normal £5 applied and a rebate from the 6th jan to the 19th jean as well.

Hope the above makes sense.

Oh and it only apples to O2 direct tariffs I understand.

I called again today to find out why I had not received a call back, I was told I was not eligible for any discount as I am not on an O2 refresh tariff, if I want to add 4G the price is £32 a month and my data allowance stays at 1GB and would not go up to 5GB. Has anyone else upgraded to 4G who is not on an O2 refresh tariff and received the additional data and discount?

Phoned up today and after insisting that the operator check I was told that the free upgrade was only available to people that already had 4G. If I wanted 4G it would be an extra £5 with no extra data.

Edit: I'm on O2 Unlimited+ 24 (the original iPhone 5 plan) with the default 1Gb data bolt on.
