Upgrading from 3G to 4G as a current customer

Hi all after reading an article on Engadget about O2 dropping there 4G prices to £17 a month (my current 3G bill is £17 before phone payment) I called them up to ask if I could move to 4G as I already have a 4G phone (iPhone 5S) they came back saying my tariff is still £22 for 4G if I want to upgrade.

I am I missing something my current tariff is a 1gb cap.

I just done another online chat with O2 and I had to move to the manager who then sorted out my issue and moved me to the 17 pounds a month 1gb data tariff she said it only started this new year . They could have mention that in the articles and when I called and net chatted with them last month.

I am chatting to them now.

And been told since I am an existing customer, I have to pay £22 for 4G as the new prices are only for new customers.

Oh well...

Obviously ok for some existing customers but not the others...

Not that bothered but I think all customers should be treated the same!

A thread explaining why some existing customers benefit from the discount/free upgrade to 4G and some don't would be most welcomed.
