Upgrading from 3G to 4G as a current customer

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi all after reading an article on Engadget about O2 dropping there 4G prices to £17 a month (my current 3G bill is £17 before phone payment) I called them up to ask if I could move to 4G as I already have a 4G phone (iPhone 5S) they came back saying my tariff is still £22 for 4G if I want to upgrade.

I am I missing something my current tariff is a 1gb cap.

Unfortunately it's going to be like that from now on - It's a two way street....

Well I spoke to o2 customer services last night about the upgrade from 1gb to 5gb that I was getting but then told I am not.

Firstly I thought o2 call centres were in the uk? Nope I can confirm that is not the case. My call ended up in South Africa.

Anyway to cut long story short as a live chat advisor said I was to have the increase the agent I spoke to checked with her boss and has apparently added it on manually.

So roll on tomorrow. ..... We shall see

One of the UK call centres was closed about a year or so back and about 400 jobs were moved to SA.

I believe there are still about 11,500 total staff in the UK.

And to update. The agent in South Africa has screwed up the account.

I am still seeing 1gb of allowance.
My price has gone up by £5 per month for the 4g tariff EVEN THOUGH I ALREADY HAD IT.

Too much to ask to get it right?

Hi Ho hi ho it's off to the Chief Exec I go. .....

Update from Chief Exec office has just come back through.

They are sorting it out by changing my tariff to a simplicity tariff that includes 4g at the same price that I pay now and I keep my discount. (Contract stays in place though)

Still. It's nice to be involved in a thread that isn't about the price rise eh? ??? 📡
