The phone will accept any U.K. SIM card after unlocking and also foreign SIM cards as long as your phone works in those particular network frequencies.

When buying a PAYG phone from O2, do you have to purchase a sim/top up as I already have a GiffGaff sim that uses the O2 network?

Yes, they will charge you a £10 top up.

Have you looked at the giffgaff phones as they might be cheaper?

Just checked my account, GiffGaff don't do the phone I want, will check out O2/unlocked/sim free ebay for nokia lumia 530, thanks for quick response/advice.
