Unlocking old contract phone with 02

Trying to unlock an old samsung phone 2017, sending in my ime number but they come back saying its not an 02 i bought it with a contract through them,  its just not used as the i got a new samsung 10 note plus.

Have you tried everything in this guide? Guide: Unlocking an O2 phone to use a different SIM card 

It may not be locked at all. Just try it with a different network sim in.

Went to the 02 shop to ask, they sent 02 my finance agreement, 02 sent unlocking code, happy days but what a faff
